The Storm will travel to Cambridge on Tuesday, May 12th for a meet that will start at 4:00 pm.
Students will be released at 1:45 and bus leaves at 2:00.

MEET INFORMATION

Participating Schools:  Alexandria, Bemidji, Brainerd, Buffalo, Monticello, Moorhead, St. Cloud Tech, St. Michael/Albertville Sauk Rapids-Rice

Parking & Camps:  Busses will park along the west parking lot on the service road near the tennis courts.  Bathrooms are available inside the stadium. All team camps must be on the north end of the field west of the stadium.  Please keep camps clean!  School is in session until 3:05 so athletes will not be allowed in the school.  

Concessions:  pizza, ice cream, hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, popcorn, candy and hot & cold beverages.

Spectators: Only officials, contestants, and coaches are permitted on the track or the turf infield area. No food or beverages other than water will be permitted inside the track.  Everyone is to stay off the turf.   

Athlete Rosters: Hero’s Timing will be emailing you competitor numbers.  Update rosters on MSHSL.org by May 5th.
Results:  Results are available online or with Results App at www.herostiming.com.  PDF results will be emailed at meet conclusion.  Paper results available upon request.

Meet Workers:  According to True Team policy, each participating school is to provide 2 adult meet workers, one for the boys team one for the girls team for field events. 

Work Assignments Needed:

            Relay Judges for 4 x 100 and 4x 200:  SRR and Monticello

            Alexandria will provide clerk and finish line personnel.

Teams will be asked at coaches meeting to judge relay exchange zones.

                       

General Rules: 

*National Federation rules and MSHSL modifications will govern the meet.

*Jewelry rule, uniform, electronics rules will be enforced.

* All races will be timed finals. Athletes will report to the clerk on the South end of the track after second call. 

* Spikes of 1/8” pyramid will be used.

Scoring:         Individual Events:   27-26-25 down to 1 (All finishing athletes score, 27 places)    

                        Relays:              36-32-28-24-20-16-12-8-4 (All finishing relay teams score, 9 places)

Entries:          Individual: 3 entries per school    1 relay team per school (No pre entry) 

Lanes will be randomly assigned for each heat.  We have a 9 lane track, so running events will have 3 heats.  Customarily first heat is fastest, but not required. Throws last flight best, but again not required. Throws and jumps will be in flights one athlete per school per flight.

Running Events:  

*The 800 will be run in lanes with a 1-turn stagger.  Runners will remain in their lanes for one turn.  (3 Heats)

*The 1600 and 3200 will use alleys for top 2 runners from each school and 3^rd runner will be placed on waterfall start line.

*The 4 x 400 relay will use a 3-turn stagger (2^nd runner cuts after first turn)

Checking out of Field Events:  Running events take precedence over field events

-Athletes should not check out before 2^nd call for running event, athlete shall inform field    event judge of the need to move to running event.

-The judge may choose to have athlete move up out of order and take an earlier attempt.

-The athlete has 10 Min. from completion of running event to check back in with field   event judge, or athlete may miss attempt.

Field Events:

·      Pole Vault

a.  Proposed opening heights are:  Girls 6’,7’, 7’6” 8’, 8’6”, 9, 9’3” 9’6” …..   Boys 7, 8’, 9’, 9’6” 10’, 10’6”, 11, 11’6”, 12’, 12’6”,12’9”, 13, 13’3”.... Coaches will confirm opening heights for boys and girls pole vault at the coaches meeting prior to the meet. 3 alive rotations will be followed.  

b.  60 second rule will be enforced.

·      High Jump

a.     Proposed heights are:  Girls 4’0” 4’3”,4’6”, 4’9”, 5, 5’2”, 5’4”, 5’6”…

Boys 4’6”, 4’9:, 5’0”, 5’3”, 5’6”, 5’9”, 6’0”, 6’2”, 6’4” …….

Coaches will confirm opening heights for boys and girls high jump at the

coaches meeting prior to the meet.

b.     3 alive rotations will be followed.                                                

·      Long and Triple Jump:  4  jumps . 3 flights of 9, one athlete per school per flight

·      Shot put and Discus

a.     Shot put and discus will be weighed and checked in red shed on the east side of the stadium near the shot put.  All equipment must be weighted in by 1:45

b. 4 throws. 3 flights of 9, one athlete per school per flight.

Section Team Champions: Boys and Girls team champions will qualify to State AAA True Team Track & Field Championships to be held at Stillwater High School on Friday May 15th, beginning at 3:30 pm.  Runner-up teams could be selected as a “Wild Card” participant.  Champions and runner-up teams will receive State Meet packet upon completion of meet.

Awards:  Section team winner receives a trophy and top 3 teams receive ribbons.  40 per team.

Mega Meet highlights

The Storm hosted the 23rd annual Mega Meet Saturday and turned in many fine performances. The team had 37 personal best performances on the day. The team finished 12th for both the boys and girls out of 16 teams.
