 CLC Championship Track and Field Meet
   Alexandria Area High School – Tuesday, May 24, 2016

MEET INFORMATION:

Entry Deadline: Friday, May 20th at 2:00pm

Teams Competing:  Alexandria, Brainerd, Fergus Falls, Rocori, St. Cloud Apollo, St. Cloud Tech, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, Willmar

1.     Entries:                   3 entries per school        1 relay team per school

2.     Coaches Meeting:  Meeting begins at 2:15 in the bleachers in front of the press box. Scratches will be made at the meeting. Only non-participating replacements may be entered on the day of the meet at the coaches meeting.

3.     Buses:  After dropping athletes off at camp area, busses will be directed to park on the service drive on the west side of the high school. The service drive is located between the tennis courts and the high school. You will see baseball fields as you enter the driveway. Parking will be available for busses in the north lot after 3:30 pm.

4.     Spectators and camps: Only meet officials, coaches, and contestants are permitted on the track. All team camps must be on the north end of the field just west of the stadium.  Please keep camps clean!  School is in session until 3:05 so athletes will not be allowed in the school.   Warmups can be done on the infield, but no team camps allowed.
Turf Infield Protocol:  Please remind your athletes that no food or beverages other than water is allowed on the turf field.  Absolutely no food, chewing gum, sunflower seeds, allowed inside gate. Please pick up any garbage on field.

6.     Admission:           Adults $7.00                                                             Students: $5.00

7.     National Federation rules and MSHSL modifications will govern the meet.

9.     Running:  All races will be timed final (NO PRELIMS) Fast heat will be last.
Field Events:  top nine individuals will advance to finals.  Three jumps or throws in prelims, three additional attempts in the finals.

10.  Clerking:
·       Running Events: Athletes will report to the clerk at the NW corner of track for each race.
·       Checking out of Field Events: Running events take precedence over field events. The judge may choose to have an athlete move up out of order and take an earlier attempt. Athletes should be encouraged to check into running events at first call then return to field events. The athlete has ten minutes from the completion of a running event to check back in with the field event judge or the athlete may be disqualified.
·       Pyramid spikes of 1/8” or smaller may be used.
·       Please no tape on the track.  We will have tennis balls and chalk for relay exchanges.
·       9- lane track. Lanes will be seeded according to MSHSL.
·       All races will be timed finals. Top 9 seeds will be placed in the last heat.
·       The 800 will be run in two lane alleys with a 1-turn stagger. Runners will remain in their alley for one turn.
·       The 1600 and 3200 will use super alleys.
·       The 4 x 400 relay will use a 3-turn stagger (2nd runner cuts after the first turn).

11.  Field Events:
·       Pole Vault
o   From the opening height, the bar will be raised by 1’ until eight or fewer participants are alive and then up by 6” until conclusion.
o   Opening height for boys and girls pole vault can be decided at the coaches meeting prior to the meet.
o   The 90 second rule will be enforced.
o   Coaches must verify that pole vault poles are correct size and weight requirement for their vaulters. Bring your verification sheet.   (Attached)
·       High Jump
o   The starting height for both girls and boys will be determined at the coaches meeting.
o   The height will first be adjusted in 2” increments until there are eight participants remaining then by 1”.
·       Long and Triple Jump
o   Three preliminary jumps in flights.
o   Top nine will advance to finals with three additional jumps.
·       Shot Put and Discus
o   Weigh and check your shot put and discus at the SE shed near the throw area. All equipment must be weighed in by 2:30.
o   Three preliminary throws in flights.
o   Top nine will advance to finals with three additional throws.

12.  Awards:
·       The CLC track champion for the boys and girls will be determined by the results of the championship meet and trophies will be awarded at the end of the meet.
·       All Conference certificates shall be given by your school to the 1st through 3rd place finishers in individual events and 1st and 2nd places in relays. Honorable Mention is 4th, 5th and 6th place individual events and 3rd and 4th place in relays.
·       Results will be live.  

13.  Rules Committee:
·       A games committee shall consist of the head coach from last year’s host school (Brainerd), current years host school (Alexandria), and next year’s host school (Apollo). The boys’ head coach from these schools will rule on boys meet questions and the girls head coaches will rule on girls’ questions.
·       CLC Designated schools and the meet referee.
·       All meet officials serve as meet umpires with the authority to see and report possible infractions to the rules committee.

14.  Concessions: Concession stand will be available throughout the meet.

15.  Make-up Date: Thursday, May 26th will be the make-up day in case of inclement weather.

16.  T-shirts: a limited number will be available for sale at the concession stand for $15.00.

Number of entrants per school:
Unlimited for individual events, 1 relay*

Order of Events: Same order and event offerings as standard MN high school meet

Schedule:
Running and Field start at 4: 00. Events will follow one after the other.


Boys shot followed by girls. 4 throws, no finals
Girls discus followed by boys. 4 throws, no finals
Triple jump at South pit. Cafeteria style. Girls and Boys. 4 attempts, no finals
Long jump will follow. Cafeteria style. Girls and Boys. 4 attempts, no finals
Boys High jump. at East pit. Start at 5’ 0”. Raise 2 inches at a time.
Girls High jump at West pit. Start at 4’ 0”. Raise 2 inches at a time.
Pole Vault: Start at 6’ 0” raise to 7’ 0” then 6 inches at a time.
(Girls and Boys enter vault when appropriate)


Please make camp outside the infield.

Workers will be provided by Cambridge – Isanti. We may need help with exchange zones.

Results will be available at the conclusion of the meet.

MEET INFORMATION

Athlete Rosters:  Please email Hytek team roster to Pete@trackcages.com by Friday, May 6. Roster size limit is 50 athletes. If you are not able to email Hytek roster, we will download roster from MSHSL website.  You must email printed copy of section roster (50 athletes) and non-participating athletes will be then deleted. We need this list by Friday, May 6.
Parking & Camps:  Busses will park in the west parking lot NW of the track.  Bathrooms are available in the stadium. All team camps must be outside of track on the east and south side of track.  Please keep camps clean!  School is in session until 3:10 so athletes will not be allowed in the school.  

Concessions:  Concessions will be available at the track

Spectators: Only officials, contestants, and coaches are permitted on the track or the turf infield area. No food or beverages other than water will be permitted inside the track.  Absolutely no candy, gum or sunflower seeds allowed on field.   
Results:  Results will be posted during the meet. PDF results will be emailed at meet conclusion.  Paper results available upon request.
Meet Workers:  According to True Team policy, each participating school is to provide 2 adult meet workers with student helpers. With running extra pole vault and high jumps pits, we need more help. Schools have been randomly assigned field events.

            Brainerd will provide clerk and finish line personnel. Brainerd will provide some student workers.
                       

General Rules: 
*National Federation rules and MSHSL modifications will govern the meet.
* Uniform, electronics rules will be enforced.
* All races will be timed finals. Athletes will report to the clerk on the NW corner of the track, near concession stand after second call. 
* Pyramid spikes of 1/4” or less  will be allowed.

Scoring:         Individual Events:   30-29-28 down to 1 (All finishing athletes score, 30 places)    
                        Relays:              40-36-32-28-24-20-16-12-8-4 (All finishing relay teams score, 10 places)

Entries:          Individual: 3 entries per school    1 relay team per school (No pre entry) 
Lanes will be randomly assigned for each heat.  We have a 9 lane track, so lane running events will have 4 heats (8-8-8-6).  Customarily first heat is fastest, but not required. Throws last flight best, but again not required. Throws and jumps will be in flights one athlete per school per flight.

Running Events:  
*The 800 will be run in lanes with a 1-turn stagger.  Runners will remain in their lanes for one turn.  (3 Heats)
*The 1600 and 3200 will use alleys for top 2 runners from each school and 3rd runner will be placed on waterfall start line.
*The 4 x 100, 4 x 200, 4 x 400 relays will run in 2 heats. The 4 x 400 will be a random draw of the top 5 teams in heat 1 and rest in heat 2.
*The 4 x 400 relay will use a 3-turn stagger (2nd runner cuts after first turn).


Checking out of Field Events:  Running events take precedence over field events
-Athletes should not check out before 2nd call for running event, athlete shall inform field    event judge of the need to move to running event.
-The judge may choose to have athlete move up out of order and take an earlier attempt.
-The athlete has 10 Min. from completion of running event to check back in with field   event judge, or athlete may miss attempt.

Field Events:
·      Pole Vault (Will have separate girls and boys pits starting at 3:00)
a.  Proposed opening heights are:  Girls 6’0” up by 6” increments. Boys 7’0”up by 6 inch increments.... Coaches will confirm opening heights for boys and girls pole vault at the coaches meeting prior to the meet. 3 alive rotations will be followed.  
b.  60 second rule will be enforced.
·      High Jump (Will have separate girls and boys pits starting at 3:00)
a.     Proposed heights are:  Girls 4’0” up by 2” increments
Boys 4’10” up by 2” increments
Coaches will confirm opening heights for boys and girls high jump at the
coaches meeting prior to the meet.
b.     3 alive rotations will be followed.                                                
·      Long and Triple Jump:  4  jumps. Order will be cafeteria style.
·      Shot put and Discus
a.     Shot put and discus will be weighed and checked in the storage shed on the NW side of the track.  All equipment must be weighted in by 1:45
b. 4 throws. 3 flights of 10, one athlete per school per flight.

Section Team Champions: Boys and Girls team champions will qualify to State AAA True Team Track & Field Championships to be held at Stillwater High School on Friday May 20, beginning at 4:00 pm.  Runner-up teams could be selected as a “Wild Card” participant.  Champions and runner-up teams will receive State Meet packet upon completion of meet.

Awards:  Section team winner receives a trophy and top 3 teams receive ribbons.  40 per team.
